Scouting

Cary Presbyterian Church has been a long-time supporter of scouting programs. The first Boy Scout program in Cary was chartered by CPC. Our scouting program draws members from CPC and the local community.

Our cub scout pack and boy scout troop are part of the Crosswinds District of the Occoneechee Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).

Cub Scout Pack 232 (1st through 5th grades) meets on Monday nights September through May in the Christian Education Building. For information, please contact the church office at office@carypresbyterian.org.

Boy Scout Troop 232 (6th grade thru 18 years old) meets on Tuesday nights downstairs in the main church building. Troop 232 has reached a four-year high in participation, welcomed new adult leaders and is planning a trip to Philmont Ranch in 2018. For more information about the troop,  please contact Dan Clinton at dan_clinton@hotmail.com

CPC members hold key leadership positions in the pack and troop:  Matthew Simmons, Cub Master; Al Hardie, Troop Committee Chair; and Matt Donkin, Charter Organization Representative for both groups.

A highlight of Cub Scouting is the annual Pinewood Derby. CPC’s fellowship hall is transformed each January/February with a cheering crowd of spectators and participants. Winners move on to district competition.

Troop 232 participates in Cary’s longstanding holiday luminaria drive. Each boy or girl scout troop is assigned neighborhoods to visit during early December. If you would like information about luminaries, please contact the troop leaders.

More than 30 scouts from Troop 232 have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
