Sunday School

All children’s Sunday School classes meet in the Christian Education wing on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 – upstairs for elementary age groups and downstairs for preschool classes.

CPC is committed to providing a safe and warm environment as children develop relationships with God, the church, and each other through Biblical learning and spiritual encouragement. Each Sunday School class is led by adults who lovingly teach the stories of the Bible and how to practice the Christian life.

Pre-elementary (age 2-Kindergarten) Sunday School

Our class for very young children is based on simple Bible stories, creatively presented through the curriculum Frolic, complete with snack and play. Children learn that church is a good place, which welcomes them to a relationship with God and other faithful Christians.

Our teachers use Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum which includes learning the major stories from the Bible through, story-time, crafts, and snack. Growing in Grace and Gratitude is rooted in the foundation of Presbyterian identity where God’s grace and our gratitude are the heartbeat of our faith, life, and worship; extends an invitation to discipleship that inspires children to learn and practice hospitality, generosity, and love; and reaches beyond Sunday morning, encouraging children to live their lives as an expression of God’s grace.um dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Faith Journey – Elementary-age Sunday School

Faith Journey is our name for the Workshop Rotation Model of Sunday School for children in grades 1-5. Rotation workshops encourage children to “learn by doing”. It is a hands-on, experience-based and FUN approach to learning the Bible and applying it to our lives!

Each Sunday at 9:45 am, children gather in the “Faith Hall of Fame” – upstairs in the Education wing – to share good news from the week, learn the memory verse, sing, and pray together. At 10:00 children go with their own age group and their “shepherds” (nurturing adults who oversee their age group) and together they jump into their morning workshop activities! A yearly theme with seven distinct units are the Bible stories or church themes taught during the year. Our church’s goal is to bring up children knowing, loving and living out the Good News of Jesus Christ. We invite you to join us on this exciting Faith Journey!

For each unit, children rotate through three to five of the following workshops:

  • Keyboarding to the Kingdom (computer)
  • Hands on Discovery (science)
  • Bread for the Journey (cooking)
  • Reel Faith (video)
  • Mountain Top Productions (drama & puppets)
  • Tent Tales (storytelling)
  • God & Games (games)
  • Creation Station (art)
Faith Journey groups are divided into:
  • 1st Grade – Hikers
  • 2nd Grade – Trekkers
  • 3rd Grade – Climbers
  • 4th grade – Trail Blazers
  • 5th grade – Pathfinders
